Linda and I headed south on a trip to the sunshine and warmer weather on January 30, 2021.
Shortly after that my email was hacked. Many on my email address list received emails about my niece needing money and to purchase an Apple Cash Card for them. I can assure you that the Cash Card was not requested by me nor was my niece in trouble.
On the first days of our trip, I tried to use my seldom used Samsung Tap A to get on email and either the hack blocked me or Microsoft blocked me trying to keep me safe. My Microsoft verification code came to the house instead of our mobile phone which was of little help.
After our trip it took me two days or so to get my Hotmail email to function again. I noticed all my incoming emails were placed in my Archive Folder. It looked like my name was changed to “Email Support”. I think all is back in order.
I have no idea how I was hacked. I did change my password first off after getting home.
I am sorry for all the confusion. Thanks, for the concerned responses. I think everyone was rightfully suspicious of the request for an Apple Cash card.
It amazes me that these hacks can occur and they seem to be hard to control.
We had a great trip but it was concerning that I could not get to my emails.
